The die is cast, a decision on future ‘Challenge 69’ timings has been made!
My original plan was to post future chapters/Tracks on the 10th of each month, to tie in precisely with the story’s timeline (albeit five years delayed), meaning readers would need to wait a full month between each instalment, mirroring the way that Stuart (and team) have to hold on before receiving their next ‘challenge’.
Following reader feedback though, and giving it more thought, I’ve now decided that whatever this approach gains in ‘purity’ it more than loses on momentum and continuity. If readers are engaged by the book, and keen to find out how the story unfolds, then overly long delays between Tracks end up being counterproductive. I must admit even I’ve started to become impatient about getting the next bit of my story published.
So, while ‘Track 2’ will still be sent out (as planned) on 10th & 11th September, ‘Track 3’ will be moved forward to the 25th & 26th, with all subsequent instalments then following that same ‘twice a month’ timetable. This change means the whole of ‘Challenge 69’ will now be done and dusted by this time next year.
I hope you agree this is an improvement.
In the meantime I’ll leave you with a favourite ‘Friday Songs’ playlist, as usual any suggested reader additions are most welcome.
5 - Friday Night, Saturday Morning by The Specials
4 - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) by Katy Perry
3 - Friday’s Child by Nancy Sinatra
2 - Friday I’m In Love by The Cure
1 - Friday On My Mind by The Easybeats
Much as I love The Cure, that Easybeats’ chorus may be in mono (and almost as old as me) but it still wins this contest hands down.
