Back to the Challenge
Just the usual reminder that ‘Challenge 69’ will return at the weekend, with ‘Track 17’ hitting your inboxes, over two parts, at 9am this Saturday and Sunday.
We’re rapidly approaching the ‘pointy end’ of the mystery now, with only another six episodes to come after this one.
In a desperate attempt to make sure at least one of my ‘thematic’ mavericks ended up being contemporaneous with the story’s 2017/18 time setting this upcoming instalment is titled ‘Poem’, with She Drew the Gun’s Louisa Roach taking centre stage in Stuart’s latest musical meanderings.
Back at the time I was writing this chapter there were a few other ‘artists of the day’ who briefly came under consideration (as collected in today’s playlist below) …
… but, in the end, Louisa won the day, with the heavily politicised (Corbyn-like) leaning of her lyrics ideally suited to sit alongside ‘Track 17’s reflections on how (and why) people’s beliefs and convictions inevitably seem to age with them.
Don’t worry though, that’s (hopefully) nowhere near as dry as I’ve just made it sound!
PS I originally planned to keep this playlist to half an hour (with 7 or 8 tracks), but ended up with 45 minutes. 2017 & 2018 were terrific years for new music.
Back on Saturday.
