And thinking of the discussions about Morrissey going off the rails in later life, perhaps we need a list of musicians (or other well-known people) who started off well but lost the plot musically or in some other way in later life. Or perhaps that would be just too depressing. I expect Vladimir Putin may have been OK when he was a baby ... :)
Or more positively perhaps, people who did not lose the plot despite veering close at times - e.g. I would nominate Tom Jones for that, still making rhythym and blues albums in his 70s and 80s, despite his Las Vegas years, maybe David Bowie (though arguably he never veered off in his own terms) and possibly Elvis, Rod Stewart or others in the other category ..?
Possibly might turn out like an awards ceremony lifetime achievement award (or the opposite ..), but at least we would be spared the speeches :)
Thanks Tim. From your reply and from having read the rest of Track 7 I see i was right to not have a clue how to proceed after getting the four capitals just as easily as Stuart did! I was not really expecting the random guess thing - though I suspect there might also be reasons behind the correct answer even if they were not apparent to Stuart (or me). A sort of faith in "God does not play dice.." which could be as misplaced as that faith was.
At least I now know what jeopardy means in this case (I think ..).
Thanks Brendan, glad it made more sense after reading the concluding part.
You're right, the ultimately 'correct' answer (Berlin - think it's gone long enough for that not to be a spoiler!) is the only one that fits the overall C69 mystery, but I believe (or hope) it's too early/difficult for anyone to be cracking that just yet.
Back to a 'challenge' with only one solution for this weekend's Track 8.
I was a bit late to this one, but got four capitals fairly quickly. However, if you have to choose one of them (if that's what it means) then I don't have a clue about that! Not to mention the reference to "jeopardy" ...
Hi Brendan, waited until after our holidays to reply.
Hopefully this made more sense after you'd read the 2nd part. I wanted to include a Challenge, at this point, which held a 'risk' of getting eliminated even if solved, hence the four equally correct answers with only three chances to guess correctly.
Just taken a look at Track 8's 'challenge' though, and I suspect you'll be pleased to hear it's back to a more traditional 'only one correct answer'!
Now that's given me an idea for some reader participation!
Look out for a post later today and I'll explain a bit more.
Tim
