What Next? You Decide!
Please take a minute to respond to the ‘C69’ poll below (which is both multiple choice and anonymous!)
‘Challenge 69’ will shortly be coming to its natural conclusion (finally revealing the ‘unique’ nature of its ‘one-off’ prize), spread over three daily parts between 5th & 7th August.
Clearly I’m biased, but (having now edited the last ‘Track’) I am proud of how well this chapter works. I believe it neatly pulls together the mystery’s plot strands while, at the same time, summarising all those (life) themes I have tried to weave into my story.
Here’s hoping you agree!!
Which then leaves one big question. What, if anything, comes next?
I have really enjoyed pulling together all the ‘C69’ posts/chapters, and feel the Substack serialisation has run smoothly; so my gut inclination is to carry on writing/communicating in some shape or form. Not however with another novel!
I have had an interesting suggestion from a loyal reader (who suggested the book had helped to get her, “back into the habit of listening to music,”) that one option might be to turn my onward-posts into some sort of ‘Challenge 69’ Playlist Club. Having worked up a very rough, draft format, this could potentially run something like this:
Posts would be scheduled to a ‘one playlist theme’ per monthly cycle
These might be questions like, “what song reminds you of being 17?”, or, “which song have you always found irritating?”, or based around issues or events of the day
With readers free to suggest ‘guest themed’ alternatives
A mid-month starter post would set that month’s agenda and invite reader input …
… with this pulled together for one end-of-month interactive ‘team built’ playlist.
This summary could also include some, “thoughts of Chairman Stuart,” commentary on reader’s choices (a bit like we did for the ‘12 Days of Mavericks’ series last Christmas).
This could work, but ONLY with enough reader buy-in and interaction.
Which is where I need your help, please answer the brief survey below:
Thanks for your input, I will share all the results after the story ends!
In the meantime though, if you have any different (maverick!) suggestions on other ways that ‘Challenge 69’ might survive (and thrive!) going forwards, then I would love to hear them via the comments button below.
